Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has confirmed its participation in the motocross world championship, starting with the 2024 season. The company will also debut a new range of desmo-powered enduro bikes next year.
Ducati has been developing its motocross prototype for the past two years, and it is now ready to compete at the highest level. The bike is powered by a new desmodromic engine, which is the same type of engine that Ducati uses in its MotoGP and World Superbike racing motorcycles.
Ducati has also signed a multi-year agreement with Maddii Racing, one of the most experienced teams in the motocross paddock. Maddii Racing will be the reference structure for Ducati’s MX racing activities and will take part in the 2024 Italian Motocross Championship with Alessandro Lupino, eight-time Italian Champion and 2021 MXoN winner, also contracted to Ducati as racing and test rider.
The new range of Ducati Enduro bikes will also be powered by desmodromic engines. The bikes will be designed for both off-road enthusiasts and professional enduro racers.
Ducati’s entry into the motocross and enduro markets is a significant development for the company. It is the first time that Ducati has ever produced off-road motorcycles. Ducati is hoping that its desmo-powered motorcycles will give it a competitive edge in these markets.
The new Ducati motocross and enduro bikes are expected to be unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy in November 2023.
