In connection with a suspected fraud case, Robin Uthappa, a former Indian international and television commentator, has become the subject of an arrest warrant. The 39-year-old IPL legend is accused of taking employee provident funds (EPF) out of the pay cheques of multiple workers at a company he owns. The former Chennai Super Kings hitter will be arrested if he does not pay the over Rs 24 lakh in outstanding debt by Friday, December 27.

According to NDTV, Robin Uthappa, the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, a company situated in Bengaluru, allegedly withheld PF from his employees’ salaries without depositing the money into their accounts.

Shadakshara Gopal Reddy, the Recovery Officer and Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-II, reportedly discovered that the corporation had neglected to settle the Provident Fund Accounts of the low-income employees as a result of the non-remittance of dues. Accordingly, Reddy wrote to the Pulakeshinagar police, instructing them to collect (about) Rs 23,36,602 from the former cricket player by December 27. The article also stated that the arrest warrant was issued on December 4.

Uthappa is a well-liked player in the Indian Premier League and has participated in 59 international matches for India (46 ODIs, 13 T20Is). In international cricket, he has scored 1,183 runs overall, collected 4,952 runs from 205 IPL games, and recorded seven half-centuries. Before taking up the commentator’s microphone, the half-Keralite cricketer, who can also put on the gloves behind the stumps, represented six different IPL teams throughout his remarkable career.
